This Victorian house had significant mortar deterioration, a common issue in properties of this age. We carefully removed the old, damaged mortar from between the bricks and repointed the entire end-terrace with fresh mortar. It was crucial to use lime mortar rather than cement, as lime was the original material used in the house's construction. This choice helps preserve the building's integrity by allowing proper water permeation and breathability, maintaining the structure’s historic character.
